Safeguarding

At Joseph Hood Primary School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to creating a secure, nurturing environment where all children can grow with confidence.

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare, safety, and well-being of all our pupils. We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and supported, and we work tirelessly to provide an environment where children can learn and thrive without fear of harm.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

All staff, governors, and volunteers receive regular training and understand their duty to protect children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We follow robust safer-recruitment practices and ensure that all adults working with our pupils have undergone the necessary background checks.

Our school adheres to national and local safeguarding legislation, including statutory guidance from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Working Together to Safeguard Children, and the policies set by the local safeguarding partnership. We maintain clear procedures for identifying, reporting, and responding to concerns and work closely with families and external agencies to ensure every child is safe.

We all understand that 'it could happen here'.

If you ever have a concern about a child’s welfare, please contact the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or a member of the safeguarding team immediately.
