Computing
Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard and PC with internet access to support learning across the curriculum. The school has a well equipped, dedicated computer room and all children from Reception upwards have timetabled sessions. Children are only able to access the internet under adult supervision. An internet safety policy is available from school.
Alongside the Computing Room, we have 2 trolleys full of chromebooks. These allow computing to weave through other areas of the curriculum and in classrooms.
Children learn basic skills ranging from mouse control to making their own PowerPoint presentations and films. ICT skills are also developed across other curriculum areas. Children are also taught how to program control devices and use digital cameras.
We use the Kapow schemes of work to support teaching and learning of Computing in The National curriculum.

Online safety is a key component of what we focus on when teaching computing at Joseph Hood.
