Music Tuition
Music at Joseph Hood

Music is a very important part of school life at Joseph Hood and is timetabled into the curriculum throughout all year groups. We use Charanga as a scheme to support the teaching of the National Curriculum requirements for music.
We are very fortunate to work in partnership with Merton Music Foundation (MMF). As well as primary schools like ours, the foundation supports bands, choirs and orchestras for young musicians in our borough. In Joseph Hood, all children in Year 4 learn to play the guitar and are taught by MMF’s specialist music teachers.
Rocksteady provide opportunities for children to learn how to sing and play instruments in a rock band. This culminates with an end of term performance.
Instrument lessons
Merton Music Foundation offer a wide range of instrumental lessons which are given by experienced tutors and held in school during the school day. Group, shared or individual lessons may be requested and there are choices for the length of lessons.
MMF also offer after-school and Saturday lessons at their music centre in Morden.
