Early Years

Early Years at Joseph Hood

At Joseph Hood we aim to open the door to life long learning by providing a happy, secure and inspiring early years learning environment, which ultimately builds the foundations for future education, skills and resilience for life. Our unit supports children to: develop confidence to ask questions, explore and investigate their world through first-hand experiences; and think creatively and imaginatively through the provision of open-ended practical resources.

If we open their eyes we will open their minds.

We value our partnerships with parents, knowing this enables us to develop a holistic view of each individual child. This has been enriched by the use of ‘Parent Share’, an effective platform through which our observations in school and home can be shared with each other.

Our Learning Environment

Here are some slideshows of our stimulating and challenging learning environments, which nurture learning through play.  We embrace outdoor learning; this is reflected in the opportunities we provide for self initiated play across the 7 Areas of Learning.

Parent/Carer Workshops

Mrs Childs has planned some workshops this year to help parents and carers with different aspects of their child's learning.  If you were unable to attend the first two in the first half of the Autumn Term, please click on the Powerpoints below to see the information that was discussed.
