Our Outside Space
Here at Joseph Hood, we have a fantastic outside space for the children to learn and play in. We have a large main playground that is used by children in Years 1 to 6 and includes grassy areas, an allotment and extensive climbing equipment.
At the back of the main playground we have a beautiful, covered outdoor classroom that is used by the whole school.
Leading off the Foundation Stage classrooms we have a purpose built playground exclusively for our Reception and Nursery children. This is equipped with appropriate imaginative play equipment and used throughout the day.
We are very lucky to have a group of parents who work with the staff and children to look after our lovely garden and flower beds. If you would like to give them a hand, then you are always welcome.
For PE, our pupils also have access to Joseph Hood Recreation Ground, which is a two minute walk from the school and the older children use the sporting facilities at nearby Rutlish and Raynes Park High secondary schools.

Thanks to the Big Lottery Fund and our fantastic PTFA, we have recently had new equipment installed in our main playground. The money raised by the PTFA with the match funding from the Big Lottery Fund has enabled us to have two fantastic new areas in our playground - a climbing frame and an adventure area with musical instruments and seating. We even have a weatherproof table tennis table!
