  • Christmas Tree Decorating

    Mon 03 Dec 2018
The Christmas season begins at Joseph Hood when we decorate our Christmas Trees.  And this year was no different! It was the biggest tree we have ever had!  We needed it to fit all the lovely decorations made by our pupils.  We had, stained-glass windows, baubles, Christmas trees, Robins, Christmas Puddings, Snowmen and Santa himself, of course.  A great cheer went up every time Mr Acres managed to get a decoration secured near the top of the tree.  We made our count down to the switching on of the lights and ‘Hooray’ Let the Christmas festivities begin!

Our Early years have their own Tree in the small hall and they decorated their tree with Snowmen and Golden Stars.  What a sight!
  • Christingle Service

    Mon 03 Dec 2018

Carrying on with our Christmas celebrations, on Tuesday we walked to James’ Church to visit Father Jim and his colleagues for our Christingle service.  We joined in the Nativity, with many of our children becoming Stars, Angels, Camels, Donkeys, Wise Men, Shepherds and of course Mary and Joseph.

We then sang carols and from Year two and upwards, lit their candles in the Christingles we have made together at school. The bells rang out loudly to tell the community that we were having our service and then they rang again to send us on our way back to school. And, as every year, the pupils were allowed to take their Christingles home and eat them (except for the candle of course!).
