Year 5 pupils were part of 1,500 young singers and instrumentalists at the spectacular Music is for Life: Liquid History concert at the Royal Albert Hall orchestrated by Merton Music Foundation on Wednesday 20th March.
Liquid History used the theme of rivers to explore relationships between young people in Merton with their rich, diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
On 19th March Year 5 had an amazing time at the Science Museum taking part in an engaging and dynamic workshop all about forces and magnets. In addition, they visited The Sun exhibition to learn more about our closest star. Through hands-on experiences, unique objects and stunning imagery they were able to make links across the curriculum and consolidate their learning.
Thank you to everyone at Joseph Hood for yet another successful World Book Day! Thank you to all of the grown ups for helping the children with their wonderful costumes! We had some really creative and unique ideas this year and the children never fail to amaze us with their efforts!
For those of you who arrived at school slightly earlier, you would have seen the children taking part in a 'Where's Wally?' hunt. The teachers who dressed up as Wally were hidden around the playground and the children had to find the real Wally! The children also very much enjoyed our D.E.A.R day - listening out for the special bell which rang throughout the day to signal that they had to Drop Everything And Read!
Lastly, thank you to everyone who has sponsored their child for the Sponsored Read. The children had lots of opportunities to visit the hidden Reading Spots throughout the day and we look forward to finding out how much money we have raised towards brand new reading books for our library!
