To all the children at Joseph Hood
Good afternoon to you, Mrs Saville here! I hope you are all keeping safe and well and have been enjoying the lovely weather.
Lots of you will have seen the news and will be wondering when you might be able to return to school. I’m sorry that I don’t know the answer to that question but the staff, Mrs Wright and I are busily making plans and going through the government guidance and we are hoping we might see some of you before the summer holidays. We are trying to ensure that we can keep you all safe if we do return. I am really looking forward to when school can properly reopen and we can all be together. Your teachers and I are really missing you all.
I have put two new videos on the school website-one for EYFS & Key Stage 1 children and one for Key Stage 2 children-have a look and I hope you enjoy the stories. There are also some videos from your teachers on the school website-have a look, they are all missing you.
I will be in touch again soon.
With best wishes and lots of love,
    Mrs Saville

  • What Key Stage 2 have been doing in school recently.

    Mon 11 May 2020
Last week, we were looking at Henri Rousseau's famous 'Tiger in a tropical storm'.  We then went outside to the playground and looked for things that we could use to make a copy of the great painting.  How do you think we did?

    11th May 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I’m sure many of you watched the Prime Minister’s statement last night and you now have lots of questions in relation to school.  We also have lots of questions that need clarification too.
At the moment, for us in school, there is no change to the guidance. We will continue to provide care for those children whose parents’ work is critical to the Covid-19 response and to those children who are classed as vulnerable and cannot be safely cared for at home. The message is still that it is safer for children to stay at home where they can.
Mr Johnson’s announcement may now mean you are able to return to work again, but please remember that presently school is only open to those children outlined above. Please do not send your children into school until you hear further information from us and we have developed a plan to ensure everyone’s safety in school. However, we will not be in a position to take children back purely on the basis of parents returning to work.
We have not yet received any information to support us with this new plan to start the phased reopening of some year groups. We expect we will receive further information from the DFE shortly, which will hopefully provide schools with some clarification around the arrangements for this.
We will need clear guidance to plan how it is possible to social distance in schools and keep our children, teachers and families safe, how we might start to phase groups of children returning and what this might look like. Please be assured that we will not be reopening Joseph Hood until we are 100% prepared.
As always, we will keep you informed but for now, please try not to worry. Our plan for now is to continue to provide good quality learning activities for home learning, keep contact with you and your children, all our families and to continue to support each other in these difficult and uncertain times.
I will be in touch with further information once we have some clear guidance and have begun to put together a plan for the phased return of some year groups.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
    With best wishes

    Anita Saville

  • A video message from Mrs Saville

    Tue 05 May 2020

    Dear Children,

Instead of writing you a letter this week, I have made a video for you. I am in school this week and although we have a few children in, it is very quiet without you all. I am really looking forward to seeing you again when we can all come back. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the story.
